8.0 Guide Line for DDVID Cutting Master Specification:

The Guide Line for DDVID Cutting Master Specification describes basic operation procedure for producing DVD Video Disc.

Authoring System Manufacturer:

Basic Condition:

Not necessary to be CSS Licensee.

Note: It is necessary for Authoring System manufacturer to be CSS licensee if an Authoring System manufacturer will not follow this guideline.Design Concept for Digital Copy Protection:

Authoring System has a selecting function of three type of copy protection mode which follows to DDVID Implementation.

Authoring System does not have a feature to input and/or access copy protection key data.

Authoring System has a generating function of cutting master media which follows to DDVID Implementation.

Formatter Manufacturer:

Basic Condition:

To be CSS Licensee.

Design Concept for Digital Copy Protection:

Formatter has a capability to accept of the cutting master data which follows DDVID Implementation.

Formatter has a capability to input copy protection key data for data scrambling.

Formatter has a capability of data scrambling.

Formatter has a capability of two type of data scrambling mode which follows DDVID Implementation.

Contents Provider:

Basic Condition:

To be CSS Licensee.

Operational Condition:

To have management responsibility of copy protection key data.

To decide title key number and disc key number.

To ask CSS Agency to create encrypted title key and disc key by sending title key data and disc key data.

To inform Authoring Studio whether disc and title is protected or not when asking authoring DVD Video Disc by sending program source.

To send all key data to Disc Replicator with related cutting master media.

Authoring Studio:

Basic Condition:

Not necessary to be CSS Licensee.

Not necessary to access copy protection key data during authoring operation

Note: It is necessary for Authoring Studio to be CSS licensee if an Authoring Studio will not follow this guideline.Operational Condition:

To get information of what disc and/or what title will be copy protected when accepting authoring job from Contents Provider.

To set copy protection mode for disc and/or titles during authoring.

To make cutting master media.

Disc Manufacturing Plant:

Basic Condition:

To be CSS Licensee.

To access copy protection key data.

Operational Condition:

To receive copy protection key data which related disc and/or titles from Contents Provider.

To receive cutting master media from Authoring Studio.

To set copy protection key data for disc and/or titles on Formatter for data scrambling.
